Confusing to Anet? Sure, and that is why a skill and equipment split across the two game types is the best solution simply because PvP and PvE balance are either not compatible or beyond the means of Anet's skill balancers. GW1 has proven this. Now they can balance the two worlds independently, preferably by different teams who care about the gametype they are balancing.
For the bolded text, how do you know?

What makes me laugh, is that article is NOT new, it's dated May 2007. That's last year people, there is newer information than that.

Also, for the OP, there is PvP, and note that the article states that all levels, equipment, and attributes will be set to the highest player's level, equipment, and attributes in the match.

I just find it funny how they think this is brand new. The things that are in that article are just ideas people! If ANet doesn't want people to leave because of the level cap/no level cap issue, they would just raise it, but still include one.

Also, if they didn't it would just be the same as the skill points in GW1, you only get so many attributes and health added per level, and after a while, it's only your level going up, showing how much you grind (and how big of no life you have). I really don't see why no one has really come to that conclusion.

And @ Kusandaa, it will be more like "My lvl 75 beat the **** outta your lvl 200!" That is, if there is no level cap (which I hope there will be at level 50).

Anet has released so little information, that the only thing that is positive, is that there will be changes, not much more is 100% confirmed. Just sit down and play GW1 (or another game) until GW2 comes out (or more hard proof is given). Shesh >.>

My level 20 Ritualist with 6.334 million experience is basically a level 413 Ritualist. Aside from having all the extra skill points (even after Legendary SH), I'm still functionally the same as a Level 20. Maybe that's how the system will work.

GW2 sounds horrible... so in short, what they mean to tell you is that GW2 will be as much like WoW as possible. Sad... no more pvp only players? NO LVL CAP???? Is that a joke? A fraction of GW players ONLY play pvp but now you have to grind an rp character and no doubt GW2 will be ENTIRELY level and gear orientated where having better gear and higher level prevails over skill in a pvp battle. Yeah, now noobs can own you in pvp because they have better gear and are 10 lvls (1000 hours) above you. NO THX

Same thing I said in the other thread.

At this moment, GW2 is looking like one of two things, either an A. RPG or B. MMO. I'm only hoping - no, praying for the former.

As long as we can play in our own pace without people getting better in PvP due to equipment and such, it's OK with me.

Let the 'I want the best stuff' guys try to get it if it exist. Is better than normal stuff artificially getting rare like in GW with inherent modifiers.

after reading that post I have to wonder if that is a picture of your face while you were typing that under your name. The head people at ANet have said multiple times that they are not making a wow clone. PVP will not be level and gear based, that have said that from the start. Have you ever even read anything that they have said about GW2? Since it doesn't appear that way, let me tell you this, they said they want things to be pretty much the exact opposite of what you are freaking out about.

I agree. Completely. Lose. Interest. -_-

While all of these issues are important, I am confident that Anet will be able to creatively address them. When I first saw that GW had a level cap of 20, I was disappointed. However, the other methods of character development have kept me playing the game for over 3 years now. I have no doubts that PvP will be handled similarly to how it is now, which I think is good; aside from minor balance issues, high-end GvG is as close to an "e-sport" as you can get. I'm curious, but not worried, to see how they handle PvE. Even in GW, where there isn't supposed to be a focus on equipment, people still use ecto as currency (used for prestige armor) and the economy is largely dependent on high end weapons that just look different or have inherent modifiers instead of weapons that are actually better. Unfortunately, I don't think you can have an online game like this without the kind of focus on gear, so you might as well make it gear worth going out of your way for.

No more heroes and henchmen is annoying though.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is no more party wide build creativity when playing solo.

How the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO are we supposed to manage multiple characters with anything near equality to single-character players? It's hard enough in Gw1 where level doesn't matter.

I get the same feeling. The main selling point (at least for me) for GW1 was skill > time (yes, no monthly fee also played a role, but I've played WoW and City of Heroes/Villains and EQ2 before, so I still know what that's all about), and they're completely throwing that out the window. Except for in PvP, but it might be so hectic, like OP stated, because of the major shift in ability and being forced to use PvE characters.

No H/H is the dumbest idea possible though. I shouldn't be forced to deal with people if I don't want to, especially when 99% of players think Dolyak Signet + Endure Pain is viable synergy.

Leveling up for hundreds of hours combined with Anet's take on 'a person with a higher level won't have a significant advantage' seems okay with me. At least, I remember them saying getting a waaaay higher level doesn't give you that much improvement.

No need to fret on this one, most of it will be for show anyway.

Yeah, because it's good business practice to admit you're ripping something off (/endsarcasm). Of course they're going to deny it's not a WoW clone. But the more and more I read about the PvE aspect, it's basically WoW.

That Much can be quite a lot. What if it is only 100hp? Wouldn't you want that 100hp? Even if its a Major Vigor rune vs a Sup Vigor rune. 9hp isn't That Much but it is a lot.

Sounds like it will be Diablo 2-esque in an MMO. Why do that when I can just play Diablo 3?
